NPC CONTACT

▪
While the Bonded pair are particularly busy - between their everyday work for the Coven and Parliament, and looking for answers to new arrivals' questions - they've placed a mailbox outside the Coven gates for anyone to leave a letter for them. These can be non-urgent queries, updates for Nessie or Mhairi, requests for in-person appointments, etc.
You can also reach them both by watch now! They've gotten their own, and will answer at their earliest availability. However, if your message or request for them is time sensitive, it's always recommended that you seek them out at the Coven itself, especially to reach Miss Nessie. Relaying messages through Parliament can be difficult, but this is also an option, if Mhairi is currently attending a session.
If you wish to interact with Nessie and Mhairi outside of the intro logs, please comment here. You have the option of handwaving the IC interaction to OOCly ask what questions your character might have for them, for us to summarize an answer for, or you can request an IC thread. Simply specify in your comment's subject IC or OOC, comment to the specific NPC you'd like to contact, and we'll respond accordingly. If you're looking to speak to both, please respond to the toplevel below.
Face-to-face IC interactions are granted in special OOC circumstances, such as follow-ups to quests, investigations, or a previous thread. OOC "handwaving" of a face-to-face interaction is still good to go!

handwaved thing, post-litha dream.
+ if her metal parts will grow and change with her
+ if her wings (as she was growing them in the dream) will be able to handle the metal skeleton
+ if there is anything she can use to relieve pain and discomfort
+ the viability of magitech with her existing... upgrades
+ More About Chimeras
+ reassurance that this is not, in fact, of a radioactive nature and is purely magical :'|
I suspect some of the people in the infirmary will remember her from her stay upon first arriving, and she'll see how they're doing after the nightmare, too.
She would also ask for more information about the Wilders, saying that she has an extensive history of exploring dangerous areas and ruins. c:
no subject
First off, they do remember her, and they're relieved to see she's doing better... You know, not-about-to-fall-on-her-face better. The majority of them are shaken by the nightmare, but won't show it in front of their patients; it's important for them to stay calm so the people they're taking care of stay calm, too. That's something Nessie likes to say, and generally speaking, it works.
Speaking of Nessie, she has some answers for her!
It's as likely as they will grow/change with her as they won't - metal prothestics that are magic do the former, while ones that aren't enchanted with anything are more of the latter. She isn't entirely sure which way her biology swings, but whatever may be the case, they'll be here to help her as much as they can. The same goes for her wings - though she's a little more sure in saying that they're more likely to be able to handle it. Nessie can say it'll probably be right painful either way, however, and let her know about the different medicines and spells they have to help relieve and dull growing pains. Lex isn't the only person who experiences those, after all; it's a pretty common occurrence among Monsters.
Magitech is something she has a little less familiarity with, but it's sort of the hot, trendy thing lately - so she's sure there's plenty of people who'd be willing to make things work with her existing... upgrades, and she'll let her know about their local magitech club on campus. While they usually work with things like mechanical golems, they're technically the specialists for magitech in the Coven.
As for about Chimeras, she'll generally detail what's on their bestiary page. You know, they're usually a bit of a mishmash of creatures, they have a lot of adaptability and weaknesses, they'd be right powerful if not for that second bit... Despite their bad rep, Chimeras are some of her favorite Monsters - she's always got along well with them and finds them really interesting, especially since Chimera children get traits from both their parents at random. A scorpion-wolf-turtle Chimera with a goat-horse-robin Chimera might have a kid that's scorpion-horse-turtle, wolf-horse- goat, or so on and so forth. Absolutely insane.
Regardless of that: it's definitely, definitely magical.
Mhairi'd be able to handle the Wilders question, given her last Bonded was part of it. The Wilders are a group of Witches who venture out into the Wilde (both by the edge and deeper into the forest proper) for the purpose of trying to understand the Cwyld better. While they try to do this through largely more research-based and peaceful means (in comparison to say, straight out hunting things), they're all trained in offensive and defensive magics, as well as Bonded to a Monster also trained to deal with threats. For an OOC reference, think of them like advanced park rangers, except with magic. Mhairi will add that the Wilders are constantly recruiting volunteers to their numbers, though they prefer people who are Bonded or who are willing to form a Bond to volunteer.
post-black city dream, handwaving?
handwaving/summary, post snatched.
He knows, he wanted blood too. However, since outright execution is probably not on the table, he'd say that he has an idea he'd like to put forth if he may - that any of the assets the Rathmores and significant associates have financially and physically be legally seized and broken down so that they can be utilized in repairs and reparations to the affected refugees and Mirrorbound. This, alongside the undeniable shattering of their reputation that the arrests and trials will cause, may go a long way towards those targeted feeling like something significant has been done.

Mhairi takes the lead on discussion though, as Speaker for the Coven and currently the highest-ranking Monster in Parliament. She absolutely understands wanting justice for what those people (spoken with barely-hidden disgust and the beginning of a snarl) did, and they want it as well. She'll let him know that she has argued with the judges for an expedited trial, which will take place on the 3rd of February, quite quick considering defendants would normally be given time to bolster a defense, and most of Parliament will be present. (As an OOC note: This summary post for trial and sentencing will be going up on the 4th, but the OOC tracker deadline is the 3rd, so that's the earliest we can do it, in case a player reports something major at the last minute.)
She has also ensured that Thomas Rathmore and his closest family members are being held in total seclusion, unable to contact each other or anyone else - there will be no bribing judges on his part. Every effort is being made to ensure that the trial will be fair.
As far as their punishments go, Nessie and Mhairi will let him know that they can make an argument for reparations in court, certainly (it's a sound idea, as someone should have to pay for the repairs that will be necessary) - but ultimately, the decision will be on the judicial seats of Parliament, as the Coven does not have that kind of authority over regular citizens. Still, Nerissa and Mhairi both imagine that conviction is all but certain. Theodore and Sowilo have already agreed to testify on the Mirrobounds' behalf, and the judges will no doubt seek testimony from Mirrorbound as well, should any step up to speak. The trial is to be public, of course, of course.
Mhairi will let him know in a quieter tone, though, that frankly, execution is not off the table for the Rathmores. It's a bit of an old-fashioned punishment, and reserved for only the most severe of crimes, but historically, there have been a few. If she's honest, she thinks they may see at least a handful after the trial. Three of the Rathmores represented not only their family but Parliament as well - the others will not want to treat this lightly, as it's their reputation as a ruling body on the line, no matter how they each personally might feel about the Mirrorbound. They do invite him to share this bit of insight with any who may be feeling particularly violent, with advice to wait until the trial has concluded before passing judgement on the city. Many are horrified by what happened, not just them.

Mid-month, after the expedition has gone off
But she has a bit of an unusual request. She wants to know if it is possible to contact the other cities, as there is an interest in learning their stories from their accounts.
It may be good to publish their compiled stories! Or not. Caren understands if it's too controversial, but she thought she'd at least give it a try.
NERISSA BELL
letter, also sometime after moving in is all settled
I'd like to thank you and the rest of the Coven for all the help you've given us so far, though we turned up rather unexpectedly. Although it doesn't seem like heading home is something that could happen anytime soon, it helps me feel better to know that there are people willing to help strangers in need. I haven't found the magic I think I'd like to specialize most in, yet, but it's been interesting learning more.
I'm sorryThe food wasPlease tell the cook[ Half-started sentences hastily scratched out but still understandable if you squint. ]I did want to mention something that I forgot to say when we first arrived. A few people mentioned having dreams about a banquet at a castle made out of plants. I had the same dream, but I got lost outside and ended up fighting monsters that sound like the the ones you described as creatures infected with the Cwyld. After they were beaten, they seemed turn to light and ash. I think they were infected faeries, though it was hard to recognize them by that point.
Is the name 'Dewaint Forest' familiar to you? That's where we were, though there was something wrong with it outside. I don't know if any of this is significant at all, but it seems too much of a coincidence, so I thought to tell you about it. Maybe you can make more sense of it than I can.

letter, sometime mid- to late-may, time is fake
It's the same someone that had to throw out at least one slip of parchment due to heading her letter with "Lady Nerissa" instead of her preferred form of address. Being casual is hard.]
Miss Nessie,
First and foremost, I must express my gratitude to you and your Coven for your hospitality and hard work in accommodating us new arrivals. I understand the city as a whole wishes for those displaced to earn our keep so to speak, and I realize that I am untrained in the magical practices of your world, but if there is anything I can offer you and yours in particular in exchange for the great kindness you have shown us, I would request that you not hesitate to ask.
I do have a request to ask of you, however. I recognize that you are a very busy woman, but if you could spare the time, I would like to hear your theories regarding what might have happened to the powers us outsiders might have had before we were brought into your world. I will spare you the details, for it is a terribly long story and not one I am keen to recount if it is not necessary, but within my own land of Hyrule, I was in possession of a powerful holy relic that resided within my body and soul. And it is not something I would wish to see fall into the wrong hands if I am not present to safeguard it.
I acknowledge that we are at a stage of pure speculation when it comes to the hows and whys of our presence in your world, but hearing your thoughts on this matter would ease my mind greatly regardless, I feel.
With gratitude,
Princess Zelda

Ki~ng, wait up... Um, Miss Nessie-san, are you busy? The witch that led us here said you weren't too busy for us, but I'd feel bad if we were bothering you.

letter, shortly after the second batch of outsiders arrive
I recently attended a class of sorts at the Coven, regarding Monsters, out of curiosity you understand. And whilst it was informative to a degree, it didn't answer a particular question I have. Two questions, I suppose, if I'm to be accurate.
First off I'd like to know whether the transformation is a process that can be reversed or halted. I thought perhaps, as a powerful witch, you may know something about this?
Secondly, and I realise an answer to this may be unlikely, considering that it seems our very presence here is something of a mystery, but what are the chances of someone who happens to find themselves transforming being stuck with their new role, even if they were to return to where they came from? Do you think it's simply a side-effect of being brought to this world, one that can be undone by returning to a world where magic takes a different shape, or do you believe it would be a permanent change no matter one's location?
Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer these questions to the best of your ability.
Sincerely,
Doctor Julian Devorak.

late july/juril, after the group meeting
Miss Nessie,
I wished to thank you for all that you've done for us. It must be a lot- I hope we've not been too much of a handful. With that in mind- I wonder if there was anything that we- or I, particularly- would be able to do for you.
Further- is is possible for Monsters to sit in and learn about magic? [this definitely got scratched a lot in drafts, but… that's also not the sort of face he wants to show. There are some complicated feelings happening around that all the same.]
My thanks, for everything.

watch text because princess is Worried;
I understand the Coven has been made aware of the dream us mirrorbound had recently. I would like to know if there will any divination efforts to ascertain whether or not the horrid practices we witnessed are indeed ongoing in the city of Dorchact. If so, I would like to offer my assistance to them, if a novice's aid would be any good.
Thank you for your time; I am certain there is precious little of it these days.

aw miss princess
Letter, let's go September 3rd
Miss Nessie,
The two of us would like to arrange an urgent meeting. I understand you're busy, but due to some events that took place in Dorchacht, someone dangerous to us has ended up more dangerous. We believe actions must be taken to make sure there is no risk to anyone's well being.
Please let me know as soon as possible when we can speak.
Thank you,
Rich Goranski and Myrobalan Shivana

In a thread over the network, someone might have mentioned that Vanitas should approach the coven over his whole 'half a heart' issue. So he is going to follow up on that, seeing if there might be a solution to this. Just because he's given up on uniting with Ventus doesn't mean he's given up on the idea of somehow repairing his broken heart.
Not sure anything will/could come of it of course, but it would be remiss of me not to have him at least follow up on that!
S-sorry. :')

We have not had the pleasure of meeting, but my name is Sansa Stark from a land called Westeros. My family has held the North there for hundreds of years. I come here with no experience with magic, but if I can be of some use to you or the Coven, mayhaps working alongside one of the Parliament members, I gladly offer myself.
Regards.

letter, sometime after moving in is all settled
I'm sorry if that isn't the proper title to address you with, but I wanted to thank you for negotiating with Parliament for the Haven on our behalf. I know it probably wasn't an easy task, and I appreciate the opportunity you've given us to prove ourselves to the rest of the city.
I've noticed that even though the Coven supports partnerships between monsters and witches, it seems like integrating with one another still isn't that easy. Is there anyone dedicated to overseeing interactions between humans and monsters in the city? Or a space for monsters and humans to learn to live and work together more closely?
To be honest, I don't have much of a head for politics, but I like talking to people and helping them get along. If there's anywhere for me to pitch in, I'd be happy to.

Ms. Ainsley,
First, my thanks for the work you and Miss Nessie, not to mention the Coven and Parliament as a whole in helping us off-worlders settle in as well as finding us ample accommodations.
As a token of my respect and gratitude I would like to humbly offer my own services in aid of your city. In my home, I had been a guardsman, serving my city for over ten years, commanding a contingent of men as a captain. I would be happy to serve alongside the city guard here, adding my own experiences and knowledge to your ranks.

surely eren has come to see woof mom on handwaved occasions (pls), and she would be pleased with how dragony he’s become and how he’s absolutely okay with it! a good boy. a very good boy. he listened to her and he had bonds and he’s been snooping.
except one day, this day, he comes in looking like he’s aged a few extra wrinkles to his face, his hair, and— his height! but most of all, he just looks tired and unruly. like life hit him with too many bricks but he’s chosen to eat every last one.
he’ll give her a quiet hello, a line or two of how he’s been (it’s curt and an ample sort of answer that doesn’t quite explain the lack of what spark of life he used to have, it’s almost sad) and would like to ask if they’ve gathered anything new from the looking glass house and its mirrors.
(don’t worry, he wants to talk about slavery too, but l8r)
