NPC CONTACT

▪
While the Bonded pair are particularly busy - between their everyday work for the Coven and Parliament, and looking for answers to new arrivals' questions - they've placed a mailbox outside the Coven gates for anyone to leave a letter for them. These can be non-urgent queries, updates for Nessie or Mhairi, requests for in-person appointments, etc.
You can also reach them both by watch now! They've gotten their own, and will answer at their earliest availability. However, if your message or request for them is time sensitive, it's always recommended that you seek them out at the Coven itself, especially to reach Miss Nessie. Relaying messages through Parliament can be difficult, but this is also an option, if Mhairi is currently attending a session.
If you wish to interact with Nessie and Mhairi outside of the intro logs, please comment here. You have the option of handwaving the IC interaction to OOCly ask what questions your character might have for them, for us to summarize an answer for, or you can request an IC thread. Simply specify in your comment's subject IC or OOC, comment to the specific NPC you'd like to contact, and we'll respond accordingly. If you're looking to speak to both, please respond to the toplevel below.
Face-to-face IC interactions are granted in special OOC circumstances, such as follow-ups to quests, investigations, or a previous thread. OOC "handwaving" of a face-to-face interaction is still good to go!

letter, a few days after that despite what this timestamp says-
These are some difficult questions, aren't they. Quite legitimate things to be worried over, though... [ There's a small ink blot here, beside bubbly, girlish handwriting, before it drags into her next words. ] First off, I'm glad to hear from you - always am glad to hear from you folks. I feel it must be tough as nails to get used to somewhere new - never been outside of the country myself, but even leaving the city unsettles me. Not everywhere's as nice to the Coven or people Bonded to Monsters, you know.
Not that it compares, no! But you know, I feel it's more than a bit off-putting.
For your questions, let's see... First one! We've never had anyone want to do that - obviously, for Monsters it's simply natural, not unlike puberty for regular humans - but we do have spells for slowing curses and hexes of a similar transformative nature. Not sure that they'd work (different causes and the like), but I'll send a scroll over with one regardless.
Second one - you're right that I don't know the answer to that. I told Miss Zelda that magic and abilities could've been the price to coming here for all of you, and so it might be the price of sending the lot of you home is what you gained here in return - but that's just theory, and I'm not the best at that type of thing regardless. You might be stuck with it for the rest of your lives (and if that is the case, you've my apologies - while I don't see a thing wrong with Monsters, I'm aware many people haven't had the best reaction to them or to finding out they might change into them; it's not an uncommon sentiment), or it might be taken once you leave...
I hope for your sakes it is. [ Despite her ardent support of Monsters. ] It's rough here, but imagining it in a world without Monsters natively, why, it'd be even worse, I'm sure.
Hope to hear from you once more! The spell in the scroll might make you feel a bit woozy for a week or so, but you shouldn't see any new growths during that time, either. Unless it doesn't work. Then you might just feel woozy. Sorry if that's the case, dearest.
Ever yours,
Miss Nessie
[ And as promised, with the letter is a tightly bound spell scroll; it's sealed with the same wax seal as her letter, the Coven's emblem upon it. Opening it reveals much more careful script with instructions on how to use it - even those without magic can utilize scrolls, it assures him, and that all he has to do is focus on the scroll and recite a few words. Almost anything can work as a proper incantation, but she always liked going with her favorite food - really confused the lot of the people she was learning with at the time.
Once used, it will in fact slow any changes he might have... but, he'll find, only after speeding up surface-level traits first. For him, it'll simply be the rapid, sudden growth and molting of feathers for two days, followed by absolutely nothing; he will feel a bit woozy and as if the world is moving a little too quickly for him to follow, so his reaction times will be a bit off, but it doesn't seem like - for the week and a half he suffers that - any new growths occur.
This unfortunately lands him a bit short of the full moons proper if he tries it immediately, but that's how life works. If he tries it closer to that, the effects disappear completely - if he tries to use it just the day before or on the day proper, however, they're much worse and have the chance of him losing control of himself a little quicker than he might've before. An angry, constantly molting Harpy. Terrifying.
(And for anyone else, similar! Just fur or scales instead, or heat flashes and the shedding of fangs for those a little more humanoid - looking at you, Vampires.) ]

Thank you for your swift response, I do appreciate it. I've done a lot of traveling myself, and I'll admit this isn't even the first magical realm, or other realm of sorts, I've ever visited. This one is, in fact, a lot easier to both understand and navigate than the last one. Many things about your world are not so very different from my own. Right down to your magical plague, in fact-- it isn't my first encounter with one of those either. It's only that magic appears to be much more widespread here, and the transformations themselves, of course, are very different from anything I've come across before. Difficult, and - I will admit - concerning.
I appreciate you endeavouring to answer my questions, along with the included scroll. Anything is worth a try.
[Even magic, he supposes, but of course he says no such thing. That would surely come off as terribly rude.]
I suppose for now I shall just have to hope I find a way back quickly, or that your second estimation is correct, and the changes will be stripped from us when we leave this world. It sounds a bit of a gamble though, and in all honesty, if I wasn't convinced I could be freed from the transformation on return to my own world, I suspect I wouldn't go back at all. I understand that you see nothing wrong with monsters, and no doubt there isn't a thing wrong with it, for those people who were born into it, always knowing it would befall them (though the choice of name is more than a little off-putting-- surely something with less negative connotations could have been chosen?) But for myself, it's nothing I want.
I hope my sentiments don't cause you too much offense, and I thank you once more for your efforts towards assistance.
Sincerely,
Doctor Julian Devorak.
[He will, in fact, try the scroll almost immediately, despite his usual reservations regarding magic. Perhaps luckily for everyone else involved, there'll be no angry, constantly molting Harpy come the full moons, that time.]
