MONSTER NOTE
▪ Aeternae can take inspiration from any number of mythological demon-like creatures, including Judeo-Christian demons, djinn, oni, yokai, and others.

MONSTER PERKS
▪ Increased durability and strength. Aeternae's strength is just below Dragons, some Turnskins, and Chimera, but their skin toughness is second to none. It is very difficult to cut or harm an Aeternae with conventional bladed weapons. The particular makeup of their tough skin makes them impervious to fire as well.
▪ Keen night vision. Aeternae can see well even in the deepest dark, and their eyes adjust quickly to changes in lighting.
▪ A resistance to nearly all poisons and toxins, both alchemical and natural. They can ingest or touch things that would cause rashes, illness or death in others, such as deadly nightshade berries, which Aeternae consider a treat.
▪ Teleportation. Aeternae can teleport from one location to another instantly in a puff of smoke or swirl of darkness, with some caveats. It requires a lot of energy to accomplish, they cannot teleport farther than half the length of Aefenglom, and they cannot teleport anywhere they have not been before. They can also only bring one passenger, but it's an uncomfortable experience for the passenger.

WEAKNESSES
▪ Fragile horns. An Aeternae's horns are the most delicate part of them, easily broken by a blow. Even losing one horn out of four can severely weaken the Aeternae and sap their strength. Damaged horns grow back eventually, but it takes a long time to heal, longer than any other injury, and is a very painful process.
▪ Aeternae are adapted to warmer climates, and cold can sap their energy like many cold-blooded creatures. Since they are impervious to fire, many will light themselves on fire to warm up in the winter. Ice magic used against them is highly debilitating as well, second to damaging their horns.
▪ More prone to altered mental states. Un-Bonded Aeternae tend to start going feral quicker, but reach that state more slowly and subtly, beginning with cruelly mischievous behavior and escalating over time.

Aeternae (ee-tern-ee) originally hailed from the islands of Diasteros to the far southeast of Geardagas, though after the arrival of a ship from the archipelago, Aefenglom now boasts the only Aeternae population on the continent. Hedonistic, horned humanoids with unnaturally-colored skin and eyes and whiplike tails, these Monsters often resemble typical demons of myth, but without any religious ties. Diasteros myth says the Aeternae were born of mankind's delight for excess.

▪ Minimum of one and maximum of four prominent horns growing from their head in any configuration. The size and shape can vary depending on the individual. These horns can resemble smooth bone, obsidian stone, or even crystal or gemstone material, but the appearance will not affect the toughness of these horns.

▪ Skin that is some shade of red, blue, purple or gray. Mottling, striping, spotting and other patterns are allowed.

▪ Eyes that have no discernible sclera, or pitch black sclera.

▪ Prominent, razor sharp cuspids on the top and/or bottom jaw, optionally jutting out over the lips.

▪ Pointed, elfin ears, the tips of which can grow fairly long and prominent relative to the size of the head. Aeternae ears usually curve and the tips point downward.

▪ A long, whiplike prehensile tail. It can be thin and pointed, or thick and somewhat reptilian. The skin on the tail is usually more leathery than the skin on the body.

▪ Skin becomes tougher and difficult to cut. Aeternae tend to be very durable physically, save for their more fragile horns.

▪ A more extreme, monstrous form during the full moons. This can include glowing eyes, spikes or ridges popping up on the body, patches of scales covering the skin, or enlarged teeth and talons. During full moons, Aeternae will also feel an increased desire to indulge in their favorite things, becoming gluttonous or optionally, more lustful. Fighting these instincts can lead to more unhinged, cruel and feral behavior.

▪ Spikes or barbs growing out of other parts of the body besides the horns on the head. Common places Aeternae grow spikes are on the tail, on the arms, or on the legs, and sometimes down the back or across the shoulders.

▪ Along with the changes to the sclera, eyes have no discernible iris or pupil, becoming one solid color.

▪ All teeth grow sharp like a shark's. Uncommonly, Aeternae can also grow a second row of small, pointed shark-like teeth behind the original teeth.

▪ The inside of the mouth and tongue may turn black or deep purple. The tongue may also become forked.

▪ Talons on the hands or the feet. These usually resemble a reptile's more-so than a bird's talons, with leathery skin and claws that most often match the Aeternae's horns in color.

▪ Small, vestigial wings. These are leathery and often batlike, and do not grow large enough to fly with.

▪ Poor self-control and an increase in hedonistic, selfish, or gluttonous behavior. This can take multiple forms, from indulging in food or wine, to draping oneself in jewelry and fine fabrics, to an increased sexual appetite.

▪ Not all Aeternae have enhanced libidos, but those who do are sometimes called succubi or incubi, and can draw energy from sex to sate themselves in lieu of food, or replenish their energy after expending it elsewhere. (This option is open to 18+ characters only.)
