CANON UPDATES

When a character undergoes a canon update, they'll find themselves drawn to The Looking-Glass House once more, to the mirror they came through, no matter the time of day or night, or what they're doing at the time. In it, they'll see the events of their canon update flashing quickly through the mirror, until only their reflection remains. Though it goes fast, your character will find that they can remember everything with perfect clarity - this is thanks to the magical resonance each character has with their mirror.

With that all out of the way, if you'd like to update our character's canon point, simply copy and paste the following form in a reply to this entry! Please add these somewhere in your character's information or as a comment on your character's application, if you have it posted in your journal.

Character: Newt Scamander
Updated Canon Point: End of Fantastic Beasts Crimes of Grindelwald
What's New?: From choosing a side to the end of Grindelwald's Paris rally is the events that occur in the second movie.

Newt's personality is mostly unchanged. The biggest change is that Newt had been a more neutral party; not wanting to take sides in any capacity, but changes his tune after the events of Paris. This, however, is not as monumental because Newt has already decided to assist in anyway possible in Aefenglom after seeing the city destroyed in the dream (basically mirroring his feelings during the rally). It really only solidifies his want to be more pro active and less neutral in his decisions going forward.

He'll also be a little more closed off as he'll be grieving over the loss of a loved one, but Newt has always been somewhat private about certain details of his life to begin with.

His abilities remain the same.

Character: eren jaeger
Updated Canon Point: chapter 118
What's New?: mentioned here for personality changes in my app already, but events + summary:

✔️ eren meets with yelena, zeke’s spokeswoman, in secret; the contents of this conversation are unknown, but causes eren to break away from the survey corps and paradis, traveling to marley on his own accord to meet with his brother.

✔️ eren also talks to historia during this time about having a child with a childhood friend of her’s. the contents of this conversation also aren’t known, but confirmed that it has happened.

✔️ eren infiltrates the nation disguised as a crippled soldier back from war and lives in a mental hospital for a handful of months (he actually sawed his own leg off for this to make the perfect cosplay). he befriends a boy named falco during this time (to sadly use him for relaying messages), and also meets with his half-brother, zeke. they discuss zeke’s euthanasia plan of the eldian race and eren “agrees” to it (confirmed that he doesn’t and is also using him).

✔️ eren hangs low and sends messages to paradis for help with his own plans— a surprise attack on the city of liberio during a festival. he lures reiner through falco into a basement underneath an apartment building, where he talks to reiner and sends him into a psychological breakdown. they listen to a speech that ends as a cue for eren to attack, destroying the building and hundreds of civilians. he also ate a dude. eren continues to stage jump on crowds until the holder of the warhammer titan reveals herself. he attacks her and in a pinch, the survey corps arrive to save him and provide backup. eren’s plan is to eat the warhammer titan to gain her powers.

✔️ after some resourcefulness and a tiring battle, eren is successful and flees with the rest of the survey corps on a blimp. the reunion between him, armin and mikasa is excruciatingly strained, gets beaten up by levi, the corps lose their trust in eren for forcing them to come into battle to save him, and is immediately arrested for war crime.

✔️ gabi kills sasha by gunfire. it’s hinted that eren blames himself a lot for this and is the moment where he pivots from passive hobo to aggressive clothing refusal. he’s imprisoned on paradis and doesn’t talk to anyone (only hange, briefly, which doesn’t go well). eren escapes when the time is right and meets up with the only allies who support him at that moment enough to help him along— an extremist group that calls themselves “jaegerists”.

✔️ eren goes in search of zeke, though meeting with mikasa, armin, and gabi before he flees. he tells mikasa he’s always hated her and fights armin, then puts all his friends in jail.

✔️ pieck and porco infiltrate paradis island and find eren; she briefly holds eren at gunpoint and he challenges her, before being led up to the roof. porco titan shifts and nearly eats him, forcing eren to shift as well. reiner and the rest of the marley military arrive, and eren takes them all on alone.

✔️ severely outnumbered, eren still fights to the death until zeke arrives unexpectedly to help him. shit hits the fan, titans start popping up everywhere and is apparently what eren did not want. they eventually get back up from the remaining survey corps and paradis military, set free from jail by yelena. and that’s where I’m taking him from 👀

✖️ personality + appearance wise: nothing has changed too much about his core! he’s matured even more and has become indefinitely grey on the moral scale. would possibly use horrible measures for “”positive”” results, more focused, resourceful and always looking to do things on his own without reliance on others. will be plenty secretive/closed off now about his current situation back home more than ever, and will not be above manipulating people to get to where he needs to be. he’s hellbent on dying and pushes his canon friends away to make that opening for himself, but everything he does, he does for them, for people and for freedom. since this skip contains little less than a year of events from the canon point I apped him from, he’s probably a tiny bit more built, longer hair, etc.

Other: I’d like to get these changes starting September 1st, please!

Character: Toby
Updated Canon Point: About three months; probably about book 40.
What's New?: With age comes more authority in the hidden valley. Toby's been to the homeworld with the Animorphs and the spirit of her great-grandmother, expanded the population of the valley and her peoples' operation against the Yeerks, and overseen the final moments of the unfortunate Hahn Tunad. Also, her mother is pregnant again.

No dramatic changes to her personality, just more knowledge of logistics and battle and what her people have lost, and the risks taken. She's seen more and done more.
Other: n/a
Questions: Toby's grown the better part of a foot over her time in Aef; the canon update is half that. She'd be more battle-damaged - different notching and wear in her blades mostly - and also smaller, at this canon point. Can I pick and choose aspects to change in her here?

Updated Canon Point: chapter 123
What's New?:

✔️ after being decapitated, eren wakes up in the coordinate, where all the paths converge (a timeless and spaceless dimension all eldians are spiritually tethered to). zeke tells him this is possible because he was able to catch eren’s head in his hand before he completely died (physical contact with each other was necessary). he tries to get eren to command ymir, the founder, to sterilize the eldian race, but eren refuses, saying that he only pretended to go along with zeke’s plan in order to end up here. first uno reverse. eren attempts to speak to ymir, but only responds to zeke because of his ✨royal blood✨, going on to say that eren was just a key to unlock the founding titan’s power. second uno reverse.

✔️ though disappointed in eren, zeke chooses to blame their father for brainwashing him and resolves to ”save” eren by forcing him to witness their father's memories. contrary to all beliefs, zeke discovers that was all wrong and grisha was actually a good dad this time. lmao. continuing through grisha’s memories, zeke comes to accept that eren had never been manipulated by their father. however, eren quietly sends his father memories of the fall of wall maria through the attack titan (revealed to be able to transcend time), prompting his visit to the reiss family the night the wall falls. his father hesitates at the idea of killing the entire family, especially the children, yet eren goads him into doing it, reminding grisha of everyone who has died to get him this far. surprise reverse reverse card, eren was the one who manipulated his father, and all these events were only possible in the past because future eren caused it. the connection breaks between zeke and eren after grisha communicates with the eldest brother that eren will get the future he wants, and needs to be stopped. there was one more memory that eren visited, and was apparently what convinced grisha to give his younger self the serum to inherit both attack and founding titans, but that hasn’t been shown yet. zeke then commands ymir to do his bidding before that happens, and eren runs after her to stop her.

✔️ after getting ymir’s backstory (a slave girl condemned for releasing a pig, hunted down, then accidentally stumbling upon a life force that turned her into a titan only to be used, bred and cannibalized) eren manages to hug ymir from behind and stop her, saying that she does not have to be a slave and obey anyone. she has the ability to choose. he believes she is the one who led him here, and that she has been waiting for 2,000 years, for someone to help her. finally hearing him and weeping, she chooses to give eren her power to end the cycle. in present time, eren’s head reconnects in a really nasty way that i could only say involves a centipede bursting out of his body (????). wall maria shatters, thousands of colossal titans break loose, and eren shifts into the final boss kaiju he was always meant to be.

✔️ using the power of the founding titan, eren announces to all eldians his intention to kill everyone in the outside world in order to protect the people of paradis.

Character: Elliot Craig
Updated Canon Point: End of Cold Steel 3!
What's New?:
  • First up, career stuff: Elliot graduates from the Heimdallr Music Academy and makes his debut as a professional musician. He releases an album that sells well, tours Erebonia for a few months, and is able to land a good number of concert venues.
  • But unfortunately for Elliot, Cold Steel is a JRPG and not a music game. Troubles continue to build in Erebonia. When not performing, Elliot uses his tours to investigate the situation and gather information. That's basically what he's up to whenever he's not on screen. As for his friends: Rean & Towa take a teaching job at a new school, Alisa's a manager at her family's company, Laura's teaching at a training hall, Fie's a Bracer, Machias is an inspector for the justice department, Jusis the an acting duke of his province, Emma's still looking for her sister Vita, Millium's with the Ironbloods, Crow's dead and Gaius has been MIA for the past six months.
  • In April, while touring in the Sutherland province, he gets word that the school Rean's teaching at would be doing a field mission nearby. He, along with Fie and Laura, decide to keep an eye on the situation. When the school's camp is attacked by Ouroborus, the three intervene and Elliot helps with healing the injured students.
  • The next day, Rean gets ordered by the Imperial government to investigate the Ouroboros situation. Elliot, Fie and Laura show up during the meeting with their "I do what I want" permits, and insist on helping Rean with his mission. From there they slowly start to unravel some dark truths: Rean's power has become unstable, the imperial army isn't helping to make the local authority look bad, and there was a village named Hamel that was massacred and covered up about 14 years ago. With the help of the bracer Agate, they find and fight the Ouroboros agents outside of Hamel's ruins, as well as a giant robot Ouroboros had been testing. And if that wasn't crazy enough, Fie's dead dad shows up less dead and also piloting a giant robot. But then he runs off before they can get any real answers.
  • In May and June, Elliot continues his touring and investigations. Occasionally he contacts and/or visits Rean, but mostly he's not around so to quickly summarize events relevant to him: A masked man named Azure Siegfried that looks exactly like Crow shows up, Abend Time starts airing again even though the host is on the run, George and Angelica go missing, and Gaius finally turns up but keeps procrastinating on saying where he's been.
  • In July, all of old Class VII reunite in Heimdallr. After a happy reunion, they conclude that things are getting real bad on multiple fronts and they gotta look into ways to stop it. The next day, investigations lead them to find some distortions are causing an ancient evil dragon to get resurrected, and that thing would wipe out all of Heimdallr, so they go to stop it along with New Class VII. Afterwards, they meet Emma's grandmother and run into Azure Siegfried - who turns out to have no memories but also has Crow's divine knight. Cool.
  • The next day is the Summer Festival, and everyone decides to enjoy it because they just beat a flipping dragon. Class VII gets invited to the palace that evening to attend the royal ball and it's a nice event. But because we can't have nice things, Rean's student Ash decides to cap off the evening by putting a cap in the Emperor.
  • Things rapidly go downhill from there. Ash had used a Calvard-made gun, so Chancellor Osborne uses it as an excuse to declare war on Calvard. Gaius reveals he has holy powers now and joined a secret church organization and also their old history teacher is part of it, there's a curse in erebonia that sometimes makes people go violent and crazy, and some other exposition.
  • Then things get even worse when Osborne triggers a ritual that'll basically cause the end of the world and giant monsters start rampaging through Heimdallr. Class VII goes on a mission to stop the ritual and travel to the Grail of Erebos where it's happening. Along the way they find out George's a traitor and shot Angelica, Alisa's dad is alive and evil, Alisa's maid Sharon is back working for Ouroborus again, and they intend to sacrifice Rean's student Altina. Elliot travels through most of the Grail with the group, but stays behind with Jusis and Machias to fight off the Ironbloods including Millium. Not long after that, the mission goes incredibly wrong when the Courageous flies in as back up - only to get blown up. Millium jumps in to save Altina at the last second and gets killed instead. Rean goes completely berserk and kills the beast that killed Millium, completing the ritual. The curse begins to spread all over Erebonia, triggering the start of the end of the world.

Personality wise, Elliot isn't that much different from how he is in Aefenglom other than more depressed because uh yeah. Look at that ending there.
Other: I'm intending to do this sometime in January, depending on how life goes!
Questions: Will be canon-bumped affect Elliot's cwyld seed implant any?

Trails of Cold Steel III spoilers, beware

    Player: Michi
    Character: Towa Herschel
Updated Canon Point: Post Trails of Cold Steel III
What's New?: Towa became a teacher at the branch campus of Thors Military Academy, in charge of Class IX: Military Finance. Located in Leeves, just outside of the capital, the branch campus is the dumping ground for a lot of individuals that are considered problematic in some way. It has a meeger staff of four teachers, their principle and an academic advisor that has a questionable interest in the actual school itself. So she's had to work very hard to keep the school running-- at one point she admitted she put together the entire catalogue for the library and she was also doing ordering and running the nurse's office at the beginning, until they found a nurse to fill in. So it's not a comfortable position to say the least, but she's very happy there and doesn't regret her choice in the slightest.

Throughout the school year, students were asked to perform several field exercises and train on soldats (mechanized humanoid robot weapons) throughout the school year. Each time they would go to a new location, something would bring to light more of the activities going on in the shadows of the Empire and the shifting of enemies and their goals. Ouroborous' scheming was the first to show itself. It became apparent that they had joined forces with the Chancellor to take over the Phantasmal Blaze Plan and bring in the Twilight.

    - Most notable of all these enemies (particularly to Towa)-- is the one who calls himself Azure Siegfried. Wearing a mask, he still looked and sounded chillingly like their dead classmate: Crow Armbrust. It was a painful reminder, even while they still believed it was impossible. He didn't seem to have any memory of them either so it's probably nothing, right? (It's definitely something.)

    - It's him, 100%. In fact, one of Towa's other close friends who took care of the funeral was responsible for taking him and reviving him. He did, at least temporarily, lose his memories in the process though. Angelica got suspicious and did some digging (literally, at his grave) and got shot in the process for learning too much.

    - Things up until now have been tense, but not necessarily bad for the branch campus. They have Cedric bullying them to try and steal Rean over to the main campus and a whole lot of mysteries, but they have no idea JUST HOW BAD IT'S ABOUT TO GET.

    - During a celebratory party during the Summer Festival in the capital, the Emperor was shot by Ash Carbide (one of the branch campus students) and is currently in critical condition. What has become of Ash is yet unknown. And then, it All Starts Happening.

    - We're declaring war on Calvard, because the gun Ash used was from Calvard. That's all we need, he was clearly a Calvard spy and not having a psychotic breakdown (if you hit x to doubt, then you are correct, Osborne just wants to destroy Calvard.)

    - George revealed that he is a member of the Gnomes, that run the Black Workshop, and has always been. He told Towa that he killed Angelica and then proceeded to use explosives to take down the ship carrying Prince Olivert and others to stop them from interfering, destroying the Courageous in the process.

    - In the Grail, the result of the ritual within, sanctioned by Osborne, Crown Prince Cedric and Ouroborous led to the activation of the "Twilight", releasing a dark plague throughout the land.

    - Crow Armbrust, whom she thought was dead, is actually alive. Although she's not yet entirely aware of the situation since she wasn't in the Grail.

    - George Nome confessed that he has always been one of the Gnomes, the shady organization responsible for creating the homunculi Millium and Altina. It was also dropped on her that he killed Angelica Rogner. Despite not believing him at first, he made a great show of blowing up a whole airship to prove his point that he's a villain now.

    - That ship that exploded was the Courageous by the way. Also Prince Olivert was on board and is now decidedly very dead.

    - All the events that took place inside of the Grail are unknown to her as of this point, because she stayed outside with the other teachers and students of classes VIII and IX. Likewise, the things she learned outside about Angelica and George are unknown to the members that went inside.

    - Personality-wise, Towa doesn't change significantly. But learning these things do cause some doubts to spring up and become the seeds for a great deal of depression, feeding into her fear of loss and being left alone. The four friends that had been so close are now all torn apart. Angie's dead and George is supposed to be her enemy-- but hey. At least she got Crow back, right...? She's not fine, but she continues to try and give the impression that she is.

    Character: Crow Armbrust
Updated Canon Point: Post Trails of Cold Steel III
    What's New?:
So you remember how I said in my app that Crow died at the end of Trails of Cold Steel II? Well... that's 100% true.

    • So Crow definitely died. 100%, he died in Rean's arms and in front of the entire rest of Class VII. This is not in question. There was a funeral!
→ Actually, his corpse was stolen before the funeral and swapped out with a very realistic replica. So the "Crow" that everyone saw in his casket at the funeral wasn't... actually Crow. Hey, wasn't it George who made all the funeral arrangements...?
→ So yeah, it turns out Crow wasn't the only traitor in their little group of second years (Towa/Angelica/George/Crow). George is actually a gnome (George Nome... G.Nome.... Who could have suspected?) and is working for the Black Workshop.
→ Anyway, George stole Crow's corpse and at some point during the last year and a half resurrected him somehow. (They don't actually get into the specifics of what's up and how Crow got brought back until Cold Steel 4. That's a story in and of itself!)

    • So, Crow is back! Why didn't most of his friends know, you ask? Well to be fair, Crow himself wasn't entirely aware of what's going on-- he's got amnesia and is under the control of the Black Workshop. Now known as "Azure Siegfried," he's mostly popping up to sound mysterious and cryptically observe the events around him.

    • At one point, all of Old Class VII meet up to discuss what their plans are for the future and how they want to help the myriad problems Erebonia is having.
→ Little do they know, all of Old Class VII is there-- Siegfried is watching them from outside, standing on top of a building. George is with him.
    → George: "Something wrong?"
Siegfried: "No. Just a nostalgic smell wafting around. I understand what I am... and the situation I'm in."
George: "Is that so...? ...Would it be selfish if I said I'd rather you hated me?"
Siegfried: "Heh heh... That question itself is completely pointless. Give me Alberich's orders... Copper Georg."
    George: "All right, Cr--"

    • After a couple of months of cryptically showing up during major events and observing-- and shaking his friends to their core as they question how the hell he could possibly be alive-- Rean challenges him to a one-on-one fight in the Heimdallr underground.
→ "This won't be like before," Rean says, referring to their last fight in the Heimdallr underground in Cold Steel I, when Crow was in disguise as the masked terrorist leader C.
→ (That mask was a better disguise than his mask as Azure Siegfried.)
→ When the fight concludes, Siegfried withdraws-- in Ordine, Crow's Divine Knight. He starts making references about how Rean shouldn't bother to ask for interest, which REALLY shakes Rean up because that's a direct reference to something Rean said to Crow once.
→ "Do you really not remember?" Rean asks forlornly as Siegfried runs off.
→ (He really does not remember, but things are definitely starting to leak through.)

    • Shit Goes Down while Siegfried isn't directly interfering and the Emperor gets shot by a teenager having a psychotic breakdown (Ash Carbide, who is a member of New Class VII). The entire incident is blamed on Calvard since Ash used a Calvard-made gun and the country is preparing to go to war. Another member of New Class VII, Altina, was called off by the Intelligence Agency for mysterious purposes. This is bad!

    • Anyway, the Black Workshop is working with Osborne and Ouroboros has joined in, too. Siegfried is waiting for Old and New Class VII in the Grail of Erebos, which has been summoned for mysterious and deeply unpleasant reasons.
→ He continues to face off after them while more and more members of Old Class VII stay back to fight opponents so Rean and New Class VII can get to the bottom of the Grail, where Osborne waits.... and a monster that must not, under any circumstances, get killed.
→ Except Altina's being prepared as a sacrifice to become an all-powerful sword. Millium jumps in to save Altina and becomes the sword instead.
→ Rean loses his entire damned mind and succumbs to his mysterious and deadly berserker power and kills the monster that should not, under any circumstances, have been killed. Oops, there goes the entire country getting super-cursed.
→ .....AND THIS IS WHEN CROW GETS HIS MEMORIES BACK.

→ The first damned thing he does is jump ALL THE WAY DOWN SEVERAL STORIES and call Ordine over so he can try and hold Rean back because once Rean's done beating the unholy shit out of a monster corpse, he's trying to kill Osborne in his berserker rage.
→ Like Rean, that's relatable, Crow wants the guy dead too but this does not seem like the time or place??? Get ahold of yourself!
→ Anyway, this game ends on a cliffhanger.

    • Personality-wise, Crow has just been through approximately a year and a half of having his memories and entire sense of self suppressed for the sake of working for the person he hates more than anyone else on the entire continent. That... has an effect! He is Crow however, so basically all that means is he's going to do his best to act like he's not very affected by any of it. It's business as usual, except for how he needs a lot more therapy.

And let's face it, he already needed therapy.

    Player: Ryuu
    Character: K'rihnn Tia
Updated Canon Point: Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers 5.1
What's New?: Hoo boy... THERE BE SPOILERS...

-K'rihnn finds out from Krile that the sleeping Scions in the Source are starting to have their souls deteriorate. He goes back to the Crystarium on the First to inform the Crystal Exarch, as well as most of the Scions (Thancred and Ryne stayed in the Empty to monitor Eden).

-The Scions put forth a theory for the Warrior of Light to carry them back to the Source by putting their souls in a dormant state in white auracite. To see if this has any merit, or is even worth the risk of soul deterioration, the Crystal Exarch proposes they seek out a Nu Mou who specializes in the soul. Y'shtola, the Exarch, Alphinaud, and Alisaie join the Warrior of Light in entering the Grand Cosmos to meet with Beq Lugg, the Nu Mou.

-They clear out the Grand Cosmos and convince Beq Lugg to help them get the Scions's souls back to the Source. After filling Beq Lugg in on the situation, and swearing them to secrecy, they say that putting their souls into a dormant state would be exceptionally dangerous if they have no way to rouse their souls afterwards. They decide the best course of action would be to check on the patients at Journey's Head Inn in Amh Araeng, as their souls are suffused with Light's stasis. If they can rouse these patients from the Light's stasis effect, then perhaps they'll have a possible solution to that problem.

-Beq Lugg, Alisaie, Alphinaud, and K'rihnn head out to Journey's Head Inn, and they're tasked with collecting ingredients to create a familiar. This familiar will essentially try to jumpstart the souls of the patients who are very far along in their corruption. It works for a few seconds on a small child who is the furthest along, which is exceptional progress. Beq Lugg has Alisaie continue this form of treatment to see if there's any change after some time.

-Alphinaud and K'rihnn are then called away to Eulmore to help track down a missing Chai-Nuzz, who has been elected as the new Mayor. As they search the city and the surrounding areas, they eventually find him at Amity. Chai-Nuzz explains that he's searching for Wrendon, who was the adviser to the previous Mayor. Since he's not a politician by any means, he needs all the help he can get to be temporary leader of Eulmore. Alphinaud, Kai-Shirr, and K'rihnn agree to help him find Wrendon and convince him to come back to Eulmore to aid Chai-Nuzz.

-While they do find Wrendon, he puts before Chai-Nuzz a test of worth. In the end, Chai-Nuzz succeeds in convincing Wrendon he's worthy by taming a few Talos to aid in reconstruction and patrols around the nearby settlements.

-Alphinaud and K'rihnn head back to the Crystarium to deliver the good news. Unfortunately, they receive a mixed bag of news from the others. They had to scrap the idea of using white auracite as the dangers far outweighed the rewards. However, the Crystal Exarch's Allagan Eye might hold the key to getting their souls back safely. If they can unlock the secrets of the technology behind the Royal Blood, they may be able to use that to bring the Scions back to their bodies in the Source.

-While they researched that possible avenue, K'rihnn returned to the Source to inform Tataru and Krile of these developments. Estinien then arrived with news from Garlemald, and K'rihnn experienced a very powerful Echo that allowed him to see the events directly through Estinien's eyes.

-Estinien and Gaius escaped the Imperial Palace, though barely, and the previous Emperor was dead. However, civil war was likely about to break out as another war of succession. Estinien came across a vile experiment that he had to defeat before successfully escaping the Imperial Palace.

-After the Echo fades, Estinien informs them that he'll be leaving as his service to the Scions is now complete. Everything else that happens after this is player knowledge and not currently known to the Warrior of Light.

    EVENTS; summarized here!
PERSONALITY; No major changes here. Asura will just be galvanized and inspirited by the victories and progress made by his Freehold (and by being spoiled with all of the opportunities to fight!!). Alternatively, he will also be burdened with the knowledge that he has to kill someone he formerly leaned on and called a brother. 8'(
APPEARANCE; A more draconic form! As mentioned in Asura's app, Asura has a secondary form which he adopts when in the heat of battle. With Asura's canon-update placing him in one such instance, I'd like for his more monstrous traits (wings, tail, taloned feet, longer claws) to follow him to Aefenglom, if this is possible!
Other: If approval is granted, I'm planning to have the canon update take effect in early March! I'd also like to note that if the appearance changes can't be allowed due to game constraints, I'd still like to proceed with the canon update.
Questions: Just the question regarding the possibility of Asura obtaining more of his draconic traits from his canon!

    Character: Flat Escardos
Updated Canon Point: End of Volume 6
    What's New?:
    • Flat is not too present in most of volume 5, seeing as his Servant is metaphorically cut in half by True Archer. They watch one of the major fights from the sidelines while discussing the situation Flat still wants to save Tsubaki, even if it means going on his own and without his Servant...so of course False Berserker decides that they'll join in too. They also talk about whether or not Berserker can be fixed once True Archer is killed--short of having the grail, this is not possible.

    • In the midst of talking, someone walks up to them. It's none other than False Caster, Alexandre Dumas (pere), who has a very fascinating chat with Flat about sweets. Sure, Flat nearly kills the Servant with a spell he was preparing during the chat, but he didn't fire it because he realized that Caster was a friend! That's fine, right?!

    • Alexandre asks Flat a rather unsettling question: "Boy, what are you?" Flat's response is to introduce himself, but also adds on the fact that Flat Escardos is not his real name. We still don't know what it is, because, in his words, hiding his name protects him from curses and what not. (A/N: considering Flat's incredible magic resistance: I smell bullshit.)

    • With that small cryptid moment past everyone, Caster goes to make his proposition: he will "cook" both Flat and Jack together. And before you start talking about vore, this is all very metaphorical and done with the power of his Noble Phantasms in order to give Jack a temporary power boost. The downside is that now Flat's spirit origin will be mixed with his Servant's, who's a serial killer. This means that, just how Jack can now become "Flat Escardos", Flat could very well snap and become Jack the Ripper. Flat agrees to the fusion anyways, because upholding his Professor's ideals to an unreasonable extent saving Tsubaki >>>> everything else.

    • Flat and Jack fight True Archer with the help of one of Snowfield's policemen. Flat hides himself under a pile of corpses in order to get close enough to the Servant. And with the help of one Command Spell and Archer's own carelessness, he's able to make True Archer explode from the inside out. Said attack does not kill the Servant (because grail mud is Quite the plot device) but we get yet another unsettling scene when Archer recognizes what Flat is, but says NOTHING about it. Thanks Narita.

    • Off screen, Tsubaki's servant (Pestilence--yes, the Horseman of the Apocalypse), drags Flat and Jack into her dreamworld along with like half of Snowfield. End of volume 5.

    • And begin volume 6! Flat and Jack find themselves in the Tsubaki's dreamworld--specifically, the city's hotel casino, along with the Grail War's observer, Hansa Cervantes, and his four subordinates. They're looking for a way out of the dreamworld, which looks incredibly similar to the real version of Snowfield. Flat asks to go to the top of the hotel, where they hope to be able to observe the entire city to find this dreamworld's weak spot.

    • They reach the top floor, where it is able to look down at the entire city. At the same time, in the real world Enkidu notices that something is watching them--something that is human-like, but not quite. Back in the dreamworld, however, Flat's having the time of his life in a giant hotel room full of Mesopotamian artifacts, dragging Jack, Hansa, and the subordinates along...until they find a rather strange magic circle. It realizes that this is the place that is most strongly connected to the real world. Flat also notes that the dreamworld is actually created by taking various snapshots of the real world-- Google Maps, but make it magic.

    • As they're talking about the city, shit starts to go wrong. Cerberus is back and causing a rampage and Jester, the world's most disgusting vampire Dead Apostle is spotted in the city. And you know how isekais go, if you die in the dream you die in real life. However, Flat does manage to get in contact with Waver via Hansa's cellphone, who gives them all a lesson on Underworld Lore because guess what the dreamworld actually is. Yay, exposition.

    • As that is happening, someone breaks into the room-- False Assassin, to be precise. She asks Flat if he's a magus looking for the Grail, fully intent on killing him if that is the case. He says that, while he thought that the Grail was cool at first, he really needs it to get his Servant healed...and that after, he would just donate it to a museum. The answer confuses Assassin so much that, with a little push from Hansa, she decides to spare his life. As they converse, though, Jester appears to terrorize them all....or tries to.

    • With his own cellphone Flat gets in contact with someone else in the outside world-- Dead Apostle Ancestor Van-Fem. Having gotten Jester's True Name from him, Flat begins to attack Jester's real body in the real world, which is Bad News for him. Jester turns into his Final Form (tm) and destroys the entire hotel in the dreamworld. Could it be that Flat's dead????

    • Actually, Flat is fine. Simultaneous to that attack, Tsubaki releases everyone from the dreamworld, which means that nothing happens to him. He and his Servant find themselves at the bottom of the Crystal hill, where they spot Saber's Master, Ayaka Sajyou--or whatever is using her name. Flat and Jack have a heart-to-heart conversation, and they tell Flat that, if they win the Grail War and Jack is ultimately replaced with their true identity, then they want Flat to only remember them as the Servant that was with them throughout the war and Flat agrees.

    • Flat finds Ayaka and questions her about her true nature. She has no idea, but it seems that Flat is able to find an answer and is just about to tell her--

    • --When he's shot in the stomach. He realizes that there's dozens of snipers trained on him and that there is no chance for him to survive. His last words are an apology to everyone, followed by a smile, before he's ultimately shot in the head and killed, with Jack disappearing quickly after.

    • BuT wAIt THerES MoRE

    • Even though Flat is dead, that does not mean the same for the body. Something else is now in control of the body and its first choice of action is to kill every soldier that was sent to kill Flat Escardos. It does so by basically ripping them apart, limb by limb. Afterwards, it declares that it will continue Flat Escardos' dream by living on as him until it is able to become a real human...even if it means wiping humanity off the face of the Earth.

    • Fun fact: because English and Japanese Do Not Get Along, Flat's second personality has been hinted at since volume 4, as he would change his pronoun from 俺 (ore) to 僕(boku) and as a child he would also refer to himself as 僕. It speaks exclusively with 僕 once it shows up at the end. Because both of these pronouns translate to “I” , though, it wasn’t picked up by translation until it became a key part of Flat’s mystery.

    • Personality changes: For Flat? We learn that he is not the only person in that body...and that he is aware of it, too, from extra materials. In other words, Flat is aware of his own dual personality, and it's highly implied that he is not the original host of the body. Instead, he was created due to Waver treating them like a normal human being, which made him want to become a human--hence why he carbon copied Waver's ideals and follows him like a baby duck follows its mother. In Aefenglom, his death will hit him quite badly, because jesus that came out of left field.

However, the being that is inside him is rather robotic, caring only about Flat Escardos' demise and completing the purpose that they were created for. They look down upon humanity, considering them to be nothing more than mere tools for their goal. They recognize that they are the completion of the long-forgotten 1,800 year pursuit of the Escardos family, and that they must bring the end to all humanity in order to become a real human themselves. Unlike Flat, who keeps himself from giving into his own amoral impulses due to Waver's guidance, it has no issue with slaughter, as long as it is for the purpose that they were made for. They won't feel one way or the other about being in Aefenglom, though being reduced to a human is not something that will sit very well with them.

    • tl;dr:

Other: help me theres still at least four volumes to go
Questions: I just want to make sure that I can still keep the "original" Flat Escardos personality? If I have to canon update him right before his death instead of the end end of Volume 6, I don't mind at all, but I'd rather keep the main personality for now. Also I'd like to get an approval of this before I go and add it to his info page, if possible!

    Character: viren
Updated Canon Point: from the same episode he'd been taken from, but a little further through episode 9 of season 2
    What's New?:
viren's hot on the heels of posing as regent, failing in that, and now is faced with imprisonment (or worse, according to another member of the council) for treason. there isn't any recovering from that one, allegedly; returning to his mirror, aaravos makes a suggestion: he reminds viren that, because his fellow rulers have failed his test of "love" wherein viren tried to appeal to their sensibilities, they are nothing more than animals that deserve to be motivated by fear.

using the ashes of fallen elven assassins, viren completes a dark magic ritual to return them to some shadowy forms of life. he charges these assassins to murder (or, as he puts, "bring terror") to the other four rulers of the human kingdoms, theoretically killing multiple birds with one stone and all the while neatly placing the blame on the elven kingdom of xadia for it.

at this point, although still a wanted man in his kingdom, he's yet to be captured. personality-wise, i think at this point he'd realize there's really no going back from some of the decisions he's made at home, and more completely understands his "nothing left to lose" mindset.

    Character: Lan Wangji
Updated Canon Point: End of the show, just as he and Wei Wuxian reunite (after what we can only assume to be a few years).
What's New?: Knowledge. As Chief Cultivator, it's probably safe to say that he's had to exert stronger leadership skills, though his personality remains otherwise unchanged. He's now aware of all the wicked things Jin Guangyao orchestrated, everything else that ensued because of them as well as the details surrounding Nie Mingjue's death. It's quite possibly going to create some conflicts as he's going to be extra protective of his brother, who in turn is most likely going to want to give Jin Guangyao a second chance. Lan Wangji doesn't share the same benevolence towards the man who deeply hurt/betrayed his brother and threatened to kill his lover, so I'm expecting a lot of interesting conversations/encounters.

Also, he'll learn the reasons why Wei Wuxian stopped using his sword (loss of his golden core) and thus ultimately had to resort to demonic cultivation, so he's probably going to feel ten different shades of guilt for a while. He's already beating himself up for not making the right choices at the right times so he's going to be having a m o m e n t.

    Or twenty.

    Other: endless staredowns probably
