Hey Dutch! No bugging at all, we're happy to answer.
Being in Cwyld-infected areas does run a risk of infection to a person, but being there alone generally isn't enough. Flora and fauna that's infected need to actually have contact in some way with an individual - ie, there's a lot of plantlife that may release infected spores or pollen, resulting in horror stories of someone infected from the inside out - to result in contracting the Cwyld. Touching a Shade or Cwyldtid, or having one touch you, does result in a surface infection.
Wilders and those who go out beyond the Walls that are built in Geardagas have means of protecting themselves from passing infections like these. Clothing or armor enchanted with the same purifying magic that is used on the Walls and in the cleansing spells, magitech imbued with a similar enchantment. They're not foolproof, but they do enough to ward an individual from becoming severely compromised.
Because it's a magical affliction, if a Shade or Cwyldtid manages to draw blood, it'll result in a greater infection due to the magical strength of blood. These injuries need to be treated immediately to prevent it from spreading faster and more drastically.
However, if an infection is caught early - yes! It can be healed. It's just very, very painful, and not a pleasant experience for the person in question that's being cleansed. And then they will absolutely be scolded for not being more careful. So, idiot cat... be careful.
