Characters arrive fully alive - or, mostly, depending on their canon point. Over the course of 3 to 9 months, however, they will progressively feel sicklier and weaker. Feeding on fresh blood won't necessarily reverse any changes, but will certainly make it easier to transition through them, and won't leave the Vampire in question a useless husk for the 3 to 9 months. Vampiric strength setting in will also ensure that the Vampire doesn't necessarily become physically weak - they'll simply feel weaker and tire easier, especially during the day.
However, their health does worsen until their death, and the night they awaken they will feel a much more overpowering need to feed than any other urge has ever been.
